Musician Zephyr Pavey’s boots have toured Australia many times and have performed all over the US, including Tennessee, where they paid their respects to ‘The King’ at Graceland. His band, Total Control, will be touring the southern states in coming months and then on to Europe. Although his boots are looking a little worn, Zephyr says he wouldn’t dream of playing in anything but a pair of R.M.Williams.

After 40 years of wear, John Buller has handed his beloved Craftsman boots to his 13-year-old grandson, Daniel. The elastic has been replaced but the boots still have their original leather sole, protected by a rubber one. “I hope he gets as many years and as much comfort out of them as I had,” John writes.

Our godson Billy’s first pair of R.M.Williams boots is shown next to my husband Ian’s. Billy is already walking at 11 months and spent a weekend on our property in Marulan darting between the tractor, four-wheeler, sheep, chooks and cattle.

Ever since I was a little girl I always admired my dad’s RMs, and I longed for the day I was old enough to finally purchase my own pair. My dad has had his for just over 30 years. He wears them everywhere and they are still going strong. I hope I can carry on the tradition.

This is a photo of me taken 64 years ago in my R.M.Williams Rodeo Top boots. My horse, named ‘Vanity Fair’, was a gift from my boyfriend, and I used to play polo on the foal, ‘Locket’, when she grew up. My family ran sheep in the Warby Range, which runs along the back of our Wangaratta farm, and we used the horses to muster and for farm work. I am about to turn 80 and the boots, purchased at a store in Corowa, NSW, served me well all these years until we moved house recently and they tragically got mislaid.

These are my kangaroo Craftsman boots, bought in 2007. I have a police and army background, and always get complimented for keeping them spit-polished.

It took me four visits to the New Bond Street Store in London over two years to convince myself to buy my first pair of RMs. I was so excited that I also convinced my wife to buy a pair for herself. We put them on straight away and flew back to Slovakia, and could not wait to proudly take a picture of Bratislava and our RMs.

Although David Nixon has a brand-new pair of R.M.Williams boots, he says he won’t be getting rid of his old faithfuls any time soon. Purchased in 1962, they’ve walked many miles, been through three soles and have seen Lake Eyre full twice from the vantage of his Beechcraft A23 Musketeer.
