The Balmoral: A style masterclass with Orlando Reindorf

With a sleek, all-leather finish and a functional side zipper, the Balmoral boot stands apart in the R.M.Williams stable of predominantly elastic-sided boots. Its modern appeal and effortless look has cemented it as a timeless wardrobe staple and foundational addition to any growing R.M.Williams collection.

Easy to put on and even easier to style, this is a no-nonsense boot that can step into any room and make an impact.

To test the sartorial limits of the Balmoral boot, we enlisted the help of Orlando Reindorf, the Sydney-based creative, buyer and one half of the duo behind lifestyle and fashion emporium, The Standard Store. His career in fashion wholesale and later, the development of his own store has seen Orlando travel the world in search of pieces that match his (and wife Nicola’s) signature stylistic vision. An unshakeable legacy of ‘keeping things local’ brings Orlando back to his home city, for a showcase of style featuring our uniquely Australian boot.

'For me, the Balmoral boot has all the hallmarking of a modern classic; it’s a sharp-styled piece with a nod to the Beatle boot of the 1960s, ensuring its design status in my book. In a world of over produced, so-called ‘limited edition’ sneakers made in factories far, far away, it’s great having a locally crafted product. Quality can be costly but when you consider the craftsmanship and lifetime value of the Balmoral, it’s a no brainer.'

A touch of purpose

The Balmoral finds its feet in a casual, off-duty look that celebrates hard-wearing denim and relaxed layers.

'Selvedge denim jeans with turn ups pair so well with the Balmoral in mahogany or black. It’s time to step away from the dad trainer and start dressing with a touch more purpose.'

Suited and booted

The boot’s all-leather finish lends itself to a smarter look, pairing particularly well with classic suiting.

'The Balmoral boot in black works so well with a tailored suit – it takes me back to the mod style of Quadrophenia.'

A modern classic

Nothing says timeless style like a well-cut sports jacket and a tailored chino, with the Balmoral boot offering a handcrafted finishing touch.

'I can also see this boot with tailored trousers and a Riviera polo shirt, with Sorrento as the backdrop.'

Rugged elegance

Our zip-up boot steps into an urban style arena, joining forces with utilitarian shapes and contrast details.

'The mahogany Balmoral inspires a more rugged, military feel and works well with combat pants. I’ve paired the look with some contrasting socks for a more urban vibe.'
